Initial Draft of Front Cover

The idea behind the contrast of colour and black and white is the idea that the genre of music is an old one and that its quite at odds against the modern day scene. I quite liked the idea of something that looks bold and quite simplistic so I came up with the ideas of short and snappy things that stood out against the background and the foreground images therefore I used large text boxes and bold font in order to create something that stands out. The bands are all garage rock bands with the exception of "The Clamps " that was a band I made up in order to use someone I knew on the front cover.

Front Cover Logo Font Ideas

These are different fonts sourced from Adobe Photoshop, I particularly like the one on the second from bottom on the left as I think it conveys the kind of homemade feel of Garage Rock music by looking quite rustic and not done amazingly well, the way its only purpose is for functionality and its not adorned with lots of un-needed embellishment and serves its purpose only.

Cast

For the cast of my magazine I am using my friend that dresses in the kind of Grunge/Underground look with quite a raw feel and how he likes to dress. As there isn't a particular style for the genre of music I am going for other than a look of not caring what other people think of how they dress its difficult to get a particular style as it varies quite wildly within the idea of "Garage Rock". However some examples are below of how they dress how they want.

Props and Locations

The Location I plan on using is one in the city centre, this reflects the very rough and homegrown roots of the genre of music. Urban dilapidation is a good reflection of the style of the music.
Something along the lines of the following image;

As for a prop to use I plan on using a cigarette and a guitar to reflect the rebellious attitude of the artists.

Photographic Influences

I plan on taking on quite a minimalist theme that conveys a lot in a very simple image, therefore black and white is the plan and not a pose just a very natural look with maybe something to convey a rebellious nature within the person and how they act.
